Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the merits of family sports scholarship and social service. First family he is the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. The trio made All-America. A year later, in 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's finest lineman. In the three seasons he was Oklahoma's first lineman, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was acknowledged as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a qualification in the field of education. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week in volunteer projects. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and played as a member of the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and played three times in the all-pro league. The business venture he started began. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked for these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why he was named one of the 10 most notable young men in the country from the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing a little over 256 pounds. He was captain of his university team in the year 1975. In 1993, he joined at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. The university named him to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. He was also named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
